Mike Allison, Postmaster and USPS Co-Chair


Mike Allison. If the name is familiar, it might be because you’re a NASCAR fan; or it might be because you’ve been dealing with the Alabama Postal Service a long time.


After leaving the Navy, Allison became a mechanic in the family car racing business, helping to keep Davy Allison in the fastest car possible. “We were so young, we were called the peach fuzz gang,” Allison recalled. “That was a long time ago.”  When he decided not to make a career in racing, an uncle told him the Post Office was a great place to work. “He was right,” Allison said. “I’ve enjoyed all 28 years and look forward to many more.”


Working with the PCC has been and will be a way to assure that this organization will be around “many more” years.  You, our customers, are in your respective businesses and, we are in ours, but we are all in the mailing business and we are in it together.


We know you are counting on us and, I’m proud to say, the Alabama District and the Postal Service as a whole is delivering what it promises.


Wayne Jones, Industry Co-Chair


Wayne Jones is the Vice President of Business Development for Certified Mailing Solutions, Inc. (CMSI) a software/web development company that provides mailing fulfillment services. He is responsible for customer interaction and support, small businesses or individual consumers to large corporations and commercial mailers.  Wayne joined the GBPCC six years ago and has been the Vice Chair for the last 4 years working to keep the lines of communication open between Postal Service management and members of the business mailing community.  He feels the Greater Birmingham Postal Customer Council’s ability to achieve the Bronze and Gold Levels was due to good leadership, a competent and resourceful GBPCC team and qualified business partners.


Wayne credits his success in life to three things, God, his Dad (Leo) and his devoted wife (Teena). Teena and Wayne have 4 children, Jodie, Rachel, Justin and Kana and 5 grandchildren.


James McDaniel, Industry Vice Co-Chair & Education Chair


As Education Chair, James works with the PCC Education Committee to develop programs and events that will benefit the Greater Birmingham PCC membership both professionally and practically. These programs are designed for business mailers or anyone looking for tools and expertise in postal products, services, and mail quality improvement. The Education Committee consists of USPS professionals and industry professionals teaming together to bring our PCC members the most up to date and useful information possible as well as years of practical working expertise. 

James is currently the production manager with Main Street Checks. He has over 30 years of experience in the printing, publishing and direct mail industries. James is a former executive board member for PostCom and is an inductee in the Society for Service Professionals in Printing Hall of Fame. He has held positions with the Time Warner postal policy committee, the Time Warner Transportation and Logistics Council, the Time Inc. postal committee, and managed Southern Progress/Oxmoor House postal affairs, fulfillment and distribution.

Pete Jackson, Treasurer & Secretary


Pete Jackson was born and raised in Chicago.  He has over 30 years of sales experience, a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of North Texas, is a Dale Carnegie graduate and is presently President/CEO/Owner of BETTER ENVELOPES.  The company is dedicated to providing better quality, service and pricing to their customers through special arrangements made with manufacturers across the country.  He is truly a business professional, tremendously successful building customer and associate relationships. With experience in Sales, Human Resources and Operations, Pete brings a wealth of talent to

 the industry.  Pete became a member of the Greater Birmingham Postal Customer Council in 2005. He officially became a PCC committee member in 2006.  Subsequently, the board of directors of the GBPCC elected Pete to the position of Secretary/Treasurer in 2007. Pete continues to serve in that position today.  He is also an avid runner and cyclist.

 

For the last seven years Pete has been faithfully dedicated to the growth & success of the GBPCC and to his position of Secretary/Treasurer. He does an exemplary job keeping accurate financial records, scheduling our monthly mailings, email blasts, the quarterly Eagle mailing, board meetings, and moderating the GBPCC Lunch & Learn meetings at La Paz each month.  He also has been very generous with his free time. On behalf of GBPCC he volunteered his time on weekends to help the Alabama tornado victims rebuild.  The board of directors of the Greater Birmingham Postal Customer Council is very grateful to have such a dedicated member in Pete Jackson. 


Greg D'Alessio, Communications Chair


Greg D'Alessio is the Director of Sales and Marketing for Certified Mailing Solutions, Inc. (CMSI) a software/web development company that provides mailing fulfillment services.  He oversees all marketing, sales, integrations, training, and support efforts.


Greg joined the GBPCC six years ago and has been the Communications Chair for the last 4 years working to keep the forms of communication fresh and informative.  He feels the Greater Birmingham Postal Customer Council’s ability to achieve the Gold Level was due to good leadership, a competent and resourceful GBPCC team and qualified business partners.


Greg credits his success in life to three things, God, his mother and father who chose to homeschool him for 8 years, and his supportive wife Misty.  Greg also manages a team and plays in a competitive wood bat baseball league during the summer and is an avid mountain biker.


Joe Smith, Membership Chair


Joe Smith retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama after 36 years of service and decided to cross some items off of his bucket list. He traveled through the United States and Southern Europe. Shortly after returning home, he decided to re-enter the workforce and do something he had always wanted to do – sell cars! A natural sales and marketing man, Joe quickly established himself as a productive member of a sales team, but he realized just how much he missed what he loved most. Printing!

Joe called on longtime friend Jerry Robertson (Founder and Co-owner of Robertson Press) to discuss his desire to re-enter the printing business. After speaking over the phone they agreed to meet for lunch. Something special happened the evening before they met for lunch. Jerry spoke with his wife Page about an idea to assist Joe in starting his own print management company.   In a spirit of prayer and reciprocity, they both agreed to not only assist Joe in starting his own business, but also mentor him for one year to ensure success using Robertson Press as a model and resource.


On Monday December 08, 2015 Smith Printing Services LLC was incorporated. Joe‘s passion and interpersonal skills make him a natural fit for the printing industry. His zeal for art, the design process and his acute attention to detail make him the perfect person to entrust with your print management.  The relationships Joe has developed and nurtured over the past 25 years on both the client and vendor side of the industry gives him a vantage point that serves each client well.    



Matt Schrecongost, Public Relations Chair


Matt Schrecongost is the Document Management and Record Services Manager at 

Protective Life Insurance Company.  Matt is responsible for all aspects of daily operations and provides additional support for remote offices in Elgin, Illinois and Syracuse, New York.


Matt has been a member of the GBPCC since 2013 and has 20 years of experience in the financial services, print, and mailing industries.


As Public Relations Chair, Matt’s goal will be to create new contacts, build on existing relationships, and create additional exposure for the GBPCC in 2017. 



Lewis Kindle, USPS Marketing Manager


Lewis Kindle, Postmaster, Conroe, Texas, will be detailed as Acting Manager, Marketing. Manager, Marketing Bridgett Carroll is detailed as Area Marketing Manager, Pacific Area, in San Diego, CA.


Kindle began his postal career as a Casual Clerk in Atlanta, GA, in November 1982. He has more than 20 years Marketing experience and has held several leadership positions a

nd details of increased levels of responsibility within the Marketing function. Positions have included Manager, Business Mail Entry, Houston, Louisiana and South Georgia Districts; Mailpiece Design Analyst, Atlanta District; Customer Service Program Analyst, Southern Area; Acting Manager, Small Business and Mail Acceptance, Southern Area; and Acting Manager, Marketing, Houston District.


He also held several operational assignments including Supervisor, Distribution Operations, Atlanta Main Post Office; Manager, Customer Services, Hilldale Post Office, Tampa FL; Officer In Charge, Conroe, TX; and Acting Manager, Customer Service Operations, Area 3 Houston District. He also facilitated 90 Wait Time in Line (WTIL) Kaizen events, eCC Replication and Deliver the Brand training for the Houston District.  


Kindle, a participant of Employee Leadership Development (ELD), is a graduate of the U.S. Postal Service Managerial Leadership Program (MLP), and currently, pursues his Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt Certification.  


“Lewis has a positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm,” said Alabama District Manager Susan Aronson. “These personal attributes, coupled with his managerial skills, have helped lead many successful programs and projects over his 34 years of service. Please join me in welcoming Lewis to the Alabama District Team.”



Jwana Gunn, USPS Coordinator

Jwana Gunn began her Postal career in August of 1990 as a part-time flexible Letter Machine Operator. She has worked in various capacities over her 23 year span, including Data Collection Technician, Training Technician, Supervisor Customer Services, Combined Federal Campaign Loaned Executive, Officer-In-Charge and Human Resources Specialist. Effective December 28, 2013 she was promoted to the Customer Relations Coordinator position for the Alabama District of the United States Postal Service. 


Jwana has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management and is currently pursuing another Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education from University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has two nephews, Jaylin and Kobe, and two nieces, Eboni and Raven, all of whom she treasures.
